Split screen, but over the internet

Pretty happy with it. I'll likely drop the FPS+quality on the PiP camera (performance gainz) and theme it out like a security cam.

I've LAN'd Halo1 a lot. I'm always down to team up with new players, even against the best in the room. I never care about my teammates K/D. I don't care that they don't know powerup/weapon times or spawns. But there's is one thing that drives me nuts when playing with new players. And that's just how much they fucking love running straight to shotgun room in Chillout. Jesus christ. It's miserable. Spawning in that room 30 times a game is impossible against good players. No upsets to be had. Now, I can't really solve that in 2v2, and that's fine. But perhaps there's an emerging idea in 3v3, 4v4, etc. Not my creativity, but the guys (insidi0us, frank, hasuku) had some interesting suggestions.

What if in games with more than 2 players per team, you pick a "buddy" as your PiP cam during pre-game lobby, and then that player would also be your spawn anchor throughout the game. I argued against at first, but Frank had a sharp rebuttal.

Alternatively, perhaps you can toggle through spectating teammates on death, and whoever your spectating becomes spawn anchor. This one worries me a bit, but I'm down to test both approaches. Who knows what'll work.

Some stats

I complained to insidi0us that I've never liked the Assist stat. What does it really mean? How do you attribute an assist? Where do you draw the line? He's always so clever with his solves. I won't spoil it here (his idea anyway), but man he's got a lovely solution to replace assists completely. Maybe I'll share it in the next update.

Nades again (better this time)

Bounces twice (not counting wall or person bounce). Stops tight when it settles on the floor. Pretty close to the reference material. Will sit and dial this in sometime soon.

Standing on OS, with OS, gets you new OS, once your first OS, is no more.

And tons more.

I've learned that Unreal Engine is an excellent mix of artistic and analytical problem solving. Completing each task releases a ton of dopamine for me.

Thanks to everyone's help in the Discord. Hasuku, insidi0us, JukkisP, Sitri, Appslap, and Chuck especially.

I'm a few coding-sessions away from doing some cross-country networked playtesting. Terrified tbh. I'm pretty sure movement is going to be laggy. I've read there may be a technique to lerp network movement. Same with projectiles flying across screen. But I need to see whats working and what's not first. I think what's delaying me from testing stuff cross-country is I just don't know if it's clear what phase we're in and if the guys will have too-high of expectations. Lots of stuff won't work, but that's what I'm searching for.

I'm starting a new role at work tomorrow, and then doing some traveling overseas end of Oct/early Nov. Then traveling to the Tri-state a few days early Nov too. Dev updates may slow for a bit. LMK if any1 is lanning in Korea or Vietnam. hmu.
